Gigabox Flexray
The GIGABOX FlexRay Active Star is an active star coupler for the FlexRay bus system. It is used to decouple communication networks and to increase the maximum bus length.
Due to its higher transmission frequency, the FlexRay bus is more susceptible to interference compared to the CAN bus. Additionally, the FlexRay network in vehicles is optimized in terms of cable lengths, terminations, parameters, etc.
As soon as another FlexRay node—such as measuring equipment located in the trunk—is integrated into this optimized network, it can cause interference on the FlexRay system. By using an active star for FlexRay, this impact on the existing vehicle network is significantly reduced.
